Pia Westen, AIA, LEED GA is an architect and associate at SHKS Architects. Since joining SHKS Architects, she has focused on the sustainable renovation of existing buildings and sites. Pia leads SHKS Architects’ Sustainability Action Plan: a framework for defining the architect’s role and responsibility in improving the built environment.
Her interest and commitment to sustainable design includes the development of low impact, net-zero, and regenerative design strategies for projects of all types: existing renovation and new construction for residential, commercial, and institutional clients in both the public and private sector. Pia received her M.Arch from the University of Kansas where she was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal. She earned her B.S. in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
