Matthew Bissen

Matthew is an architect and urban geographer collaboratively working to lead Integrus Architecture as a Design Principal in Seattle. He also contributes to the development of emerging voices and design discourse in the region as part-time faculty at the University of Washington. His practice is shaped by creative exploration, as well as research that centers around questions of human experience and a sustainable built environment. How concepts of nature, ecology, and social structures produce, in conjunction with, design and everyday practice our built environment. A practice which works to link ideas of integrated building design to achieve high performance metrics and consider questions of social dynamics and equity within larger sustainable design and conceptual design drivers.

Matthew works nationally on educational and civic projects to focus directly on buildings that serve the larger public realm both as critical environmental stewards and key public places that enrich culture and community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Integrus and the Seattle Architecture Foundation.
