Kristian has led the design for some of Bassetti’s most forward-thinking and sustainable projects. The innovative Support Services Center for Federal Way Public Schools and St. Thomas School, a private K-8 school, both incorporate sustainability into education and are LEED Gold certified.
Kristian brings a passion for sustainable buildings and innovation, pragmatic solutions, and a deep commitment to progressive K-12 programming and educational design. His leadership throughout the design process relies on collaboration to develop high-performance building design and well-organized plans. He constantly strives to produce buildings beyond the client’s expectations. Currently, Kristian is spearheading efforts within the firm to eliminate toxic materials from specifications, improve integrated design processes, and refine our approach to bringing daylight into spaces. He is also responsible for collecting data on the energy performance of Bassetti’s projects and reporting to the AIA as part of our 2030 commitment. Kristian has initiated Bassetti’s partnerships with the University of Washington’s Center for Integrated Design and Portland State University’s BUILT Building Science Lab, and has a leadership role on the UW Department of Architecture’s Professionals Advisory Council. He has had a significant role in almost all of Bassetti’s projects recognized for sustainable design.
