The IDL provided technical support to the AIA Seattle COTE subcommittee toward a new honor award for energy innovation. This was the first time in the history of AIA Seattle’s Honor Awards that energy performance data was required for all project submissions.
The IDL delivered a draft Carbon Impact Calculator, which was updated from the Portland 2015 Awards. Notable was the update to the code equivalency tables for the 2030 Challenge which include the SEC 2009, 2012, and 2015, ASHRAE 90.1 2010 and the WSEC 2009, and 2012 which were developed by Meek and reviewed by Duane Jonlin. Of 123 submissions, 23% met the 2030 Challenge for the year the project was designed. The IDL also conducted a statistical analysis of the submissions and assisted with data visualizations presented at the award ceremony.
The jury awarded the Bullitt Center the AIA Seattle Energy in Design Award for 2016.
